Three New South Wales-based employers have been formally recognised for outstanding support to Australian Defence Force (ADF) reservists in their civilian workplaces, at Defence’s recent National Employer Support Awards.
Due to COVID-19 considerations, the awards ceremony was hosted in Canberra and livestreamed to states and territories where award nominees waited in anticipation to see who had won the coveted national gongs.
Northmead-based CareFlight Limited NSW won the Not-For-Profit Category, while Western Sydney-based company, CSR Cemintel (NSW) took out the Medium Private Sector Category. Westmead Hospital, Emergency Department rounded out the successful evening for NSW, winning the Public Sector Category.
More than 50 NSW-based award nominees gathered in Sydney for the announcement, with Deputy Commander 2nd Division, Brigadier Michael Garraway, and Commander 5th Brigade, Brigadier Robert Lording, on hand to personally congratulate the local winners.
During the presentation of the Awards, BRIG Garraway thanked NSW employers for their support in releasing their reservist employees during high tempo periods when the nation was responding to bushfires, floods and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I would like to congratulate all the nominees and the winners tonight, but most importantly recognise and thank the civilian employers of our reservists for their unwavering support for the important work to the ADF Reserve,” BRIG Garraway said.
Other national winners included BHP, Western Australia—large private sector organisation and MV2, South Australia—small private sector organisation. Honourable mentions also went to INLOC International, Queensland—medium private sector organisation, and WA Association for Mental Health, Western Australia—not-for-profit organisation.
